Coalition participates in spring climate finance events in Paris
Members of the Nature+ Coalition contributed to several climate finance events held in Paris this spring, focused on nature finance, the CRCF and the future of voluntary carbon markets.
This spring, members of the Nature+ Coalition took part in a series of climate finance gatherings in Paris. The events brought together project developers, investors, philanthropic foundations and policymakers to discuss how to mobilise capital for high-integrity nature-based solutions in Europe and globally.
Shared diagnosis, shared opportunities
Across the various sessions, a few diagnoses kept returning. Demand for high-integrity nature-based credits is real but fragmented. Supply is constrained by the slow pace of methodological development and by the burden of due diligence. And the regulatory environment is moving in the right direction but remains hard to navigate.
The coalition's contribution to the debate focused on three points:
- The need for clearer interoperability between the ICVCM, the VCMI, the CRCF and the SBTi;
- The importance of recognising nature-based credits in compliance frameworks under appropriate safeguards;
- The opportunity for European actors to lead by example in standard setting and project finance.
Bilateral exchanges
Beyond the formal panels, the spring events were an opportunity for bilateral exchanges with several institutional investors interested in nature-based asset classes. The coalition's secretariat will follow up with interested parties and is exploring the possibility of a dedicated investor briefing later in the year.
Looking ahead to summer events
The coalition will continue its engagement throughout the spring and summer, including at upcoming Climate Weeks and at the EU Carbon Removal Days. A consolidated calendar of the coalition's participations is available on request.
